Absolutely! However, most write off Hawaii as "too expensive." "Hawaii budget travel" in the way of what's being offered by other budget travel guides just doesn't work for most of us. That's really a shame because our 50th state's tropical gardens, beaches and waters are beautiful and invitingyear round.
Imagine...the warmth of the sun on your shoulders
and the soft breeze caressing you as you relax on a
pristine beach. You wriggle your toes in the soft sand,
intoxicated by the delicate fragrance of plumeria...
You gaze out on the clear, blue-green water where earlier today you on a kayak eco adventure. Dolphins played around your kayak like it was a bathtub toy and turtles and colorful fish swam underneath. You smile at the memory and stretch lazily. You look forward to the sunset dinner with its torch lighting ceremony and authentic hula show.
Tomorrow maybe you'll opt for a hike to a waterfall, a surf lesson or a stroll through a botanical garden, and
the next day it's a world-class cultural attraction...
After 8 days of heaven, you'll return home, rejuvenated by your Hawaii vacation. And you will be free of buyer's regret and the stress of scraping to pay the incoming bills.
You will feel happy and proud that you planned an amazing vacation, one that treaded as lightly on Hawaii's environment as your pocketbook.
Hawaii Eco Travel & Budget Guide to OahuThis newly updated, downloadable guide helps you quickly and easily plan a Hawaiian vacation that you can enjoy for half the total cost of the average Hawaii vacation - even those based on hotel packages and other budget guides!
Using my ebook, you can easily plan a Hawaii vacation that is both affordable and fun, relaxing, and safe. And you can plan on spending no more than $800* per person (or even less if not traveling solo) for such a vacation. And this amount, unlike a hotel package, is taking into account all your expenditures: airfare (budget based on West Coast fares), hotel, and car, dining, activities, entertainment, souvenirs, gifts...even your lei!
*May, 2008 upadate - In light of higher fuel prices, you may need to add approximately $100 to air fare. Food, lodging & activity prices in Hawaii remain stable.
For a peek inside, go to the table of contents, and you can check out my credentials here (just to see that the author's name on the book's cover above is really mine and that I'm not just another one of the thousands of ebook marketers using $5 per hour ghostwriters and fictional personas). Hawaii Eco Budget Guide to Oahu
This step-by-step guide with detailed recommendations and tips leads you to a 7-night, 8-day eco-friendly Hawaiian vacation that you can enjoy for half the cost or less of other Hawaii budget vacations!
"I just want to thank you for the great information! Six others and myself traveled to Hawaii for a friend's wedding vows. Three of us met and stayed on Oahu for a few days before we flew to our final destination of Kauai, where we met everyone else. Your Hawaii Eco Budget Guide to Oahu was key to our success...
"I would say we probably had a better time than your average tourist! I lived on Oahu for about three years during my early years in the Navy, and I chuckled to my fiancé that I did more during our trip compared to the three years I lived there. Thanks again!"

you desire to visit Hawaii in the winter, spring, summer, fall or even Christmas time of 2008. Guaranteed.
I wrote this guide with the malihini (newcomer) in mind, although previous visitors, such as my Washington reader who sent the email posted above, can learn many things they may never have known about enjoying a high value vacation here.
If you follow my tips ( I won't tell you to use stand-by's or other strategies that just aren't practical for most of us), and if you use the free resources that are linked throughout this ebook, you can have a Hawaii vacation this year for less than $800* (or even less if you're not traveling solo).
*May, 2008 upadate - In light of higher fuel prices, you may need to add approximately $100 to air fare. Food, lodging & activity prices in Hawaii remain stable.
This 133-page guide is not an itinerary, and it doesn't hook you up with a group tour, but it shows the independent traveler the best deals, providing you with tons of choices (and links to directions, etc.) as well as sample budgets in the back of the book to show you just how great a time you can have on a shoestring budget. Hawaii is a perfect place to rejuvenate (it's a top wellness vacation destination) and to connect with loved ones in a fun-filled, tranquil atmosphere. On Oahu, daytime temperatures are almost always in the mid 70's to mid 80's, and the shore waters of Oahu are so comfortable year round that most wear nothing but their bathing suits when
snorkeling, splashing in the shallows or surfing shore breaks. In my guide, I show you how to get unbeatable rates throughout 2008, even during the holiday season.
Each section of my Hawaii Eco Budget Guide to Oahu includes, along with recommendations and tips, links to online pages where you can check out (and print) maps, directions, coupons, etc. While many ebooks include recommendations and links to affiliates enhancing the profitability of the book, as a practicing journalist, I would never do this. I could place ads in the ebook, but since the ebook sells for $19.95 as opposed to the a .50 cents daily newspaper, this ebook is ad and affiliate free.
As a resident of the island of Hawaii and a shoestring budget traveler to Oahu, I created this guide for others like myself who enjoy the outdoors and nature but also appreciate a great meal and culture, who don't want the tour bus and plastic lei experience but who do want the security of knowing their vacation will be hassle free, and who finally are traveling on a tight budget.
Since we don't all want to do exactly the same things, I've used my journalist skills to find the highest value offerings in all categories, and my teaching skills to present this all in a way that makes planning your Hawaii vacation easy. You can check out my credentials here (and get a better idea of why I'm writing this guides), and the ebook's excerpts and "table of contents" here. If you're wondering about the "Eco" in the title, click here.
When you are looking for a guide to a super low budget Hawaii vacation, don't make the mistake that many do by following guides that blindly recommend cheap places to stay that every local and travel writer worth his or her salt knows are bad news. Oahu offers many natural places of pristine beauty including campgrounds, but there are safe places to play and stay and unsafe ones, and the same goes for budget hotels and other accommodations.
Some use their life savings to make their vacation dream come true, but then never again return to splash in the tropical waters of pristine lagoons or enjoy a sunset hula with soothing slack key guitar right on the beach because they feel they just can't afford it. Remember the retired Navy man whose testimony appears earlier on this page? He recently emailed with pictures of the last trip he and his fiance made it to Hawaii, their second Hawaiian vacation using this 2007-08 edition. I recently received this from Evan!
"I've just started reading this guide, and there is SO MUCH here! I skipped ahead to the shopping and dining sections, and I especially loved the parts on finding low cost souvenirs and gifts (who doesn’t need that!). Also the food section was great. I really appreciated seeing that vegetarian offerings are included. The sections on the eco hiking tours and shopping the farmers markets will also be invaluable to me.
Planning for my upcoming trip to Oahu is going to be so much easier using this book! I can already see I will be able to save lots of time planning this vacation and lots of time when I get there, knowing all I want to see and do beforehand – and I’ll know I’m saving money by making the right choices for me. Thanks so much for this fantastic resource!

"Hawaii was absolutely great (as usual)!!! We will definitely be back. We did a little bit of everything. We spent a few nights camping at Friends of Malaekahana (one of the places you suggested). We were there the same time last year and got the same spot. We just loved it as usual. Our routine was up in the a.m. and head for Ted's bakery for malasadas and a breakfast sandwich (we got on first name basis) then snorkeling at Shark's Cove and other spots.I saved thousands of dollars following your suggestions..."

This is a Hawaii budget travel guide that contains mostly eco-friendly listings. That is, if you care about the preservation of the host environment and culture of your travel destinations, or you simply have a heart for Hawaii and its people, you will appreciate this guide even more. I show you how spending less for more often involves spending your dollars at locally run businesses and environmentally friendly adventures, like the sailboat whale-watch or local Hawaiian musician's gigs. Eco-friendly doesn't even necessarily mean outdoors, although many a tour guide will label everything done outdoors as "eco." Ecotourism has to do with supporting sustainability, so visiting a cultural center or shopping at a grower's market are also
