Kayak Kauai - Explore an Ocean or River Paradise!

Whether you are new to sea kayaking or an old pro, do yourself a favor and kayak Kauai! And if paddling out in the big blue ocean isn't your idea of fun, consider a leisurely and often shady river tour.

Kauai is home to Hawaii's only navigatable rivers including the Hule`ia River where Indiana Jones escaped headhunters in Raiders of the Lost Ark and the sacred Wailua River. The lush Wailua River Valley is a really special trip because it has so many cultural sites. The banks of the river, once home to Hawaiian royalty are considered sacred.  The Hule'ia River is pretty special too - here you will paddle through the Hule`ia National Wildlife Refuge, home to all sorts of water fowl, including blue herons.

If you enjoy hiking, you can find a kayaking/hiking tour - like the ones that take you into the jungle for a dip in the 120-foot Secret Falls!

If you long to set out to sea, take a kayak Kauai adventure tour, but before  you sign up for a day long adventure, be sure you're in good shape because you'll have a lot of paddling to do. Keep in mind that these Kauai kayak adventures can be extremely rewarding.

A favorite day trip is along the famous and amazingly beautiful
Na Pali Coast. Here if the conditions are calm, you will paddle your kayaks into sea caves and under magnificent arches.

As you paddle along the Na Pali Coast, waterfalls tumble from the peaks above down hundreds of feet to the pristine beach coves. You will feel like you're in a Discovery Channel documentary. And don't forget your camera.

Besides the incredibly scenic castle like peaks, waterfalls and white, sandy coves, you'll have a show under you as well. Look down at any given time and you're apt to see Hawaiian green sea turtles and colorful fish.

Don't be surprised if dolphins tag along and play around your kayaks. And if you go during humpback whale season (December through April) be pretty to be thrilled when one of those bus size gentle giants breeches.

If the ocean is too rough for kayaking the Na Pali (as it often is in Hawaii's winter, October through April), you can take a kayak tour off South Kauai to view the humpbacks.
