OAHU DAILY NEWSPAPERS
Both of Hawaii’s two state-wide newspapers, the Honolulu Advertiser and the Honolulu Star Bulletin offer tons of handy information, including calendars, bargain tips, online Hawaiian dictionaries, and of course the weather forecast.
The Honolulu Advertiser http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com has a comprehensive visitors guide that includes a bargain finding section. Their TGIF sections in the Island Life and Entertainment categories use a red check indicating if an event is less than $5 or free. Also look for events under recreation and sports for events. I found everything from free ukulele lessons and a Friends of the Library book sale to a salsa concert and Hawaiian arts and crafts activities at Moanalua Gardens, all free or under $5.
Easy to find surf, jelly fish, and tide reports.
FREE HAWAII TRAVEL PUBLICATIONS
Most of the following magazines are free and found near the information booth at the Honolulu Airport, as well as at various shopping centers and stores.
This Week Oahu (Oahu’s most read visitor guide lists tons of activities. For travel and weather tips click on “goodies” but it looks like you’ll need to get your coupons from the free copy at the airport). www.thisweek.com
