If you are interested in leaving a lighter footprint in your travels, if you want to learn about the host culture of Hawaii and the amazing places to visit here, from the most popular attractions (ecotourism - friendly ones, that is) to the "road less traveled," you are in the right place... E Komo Mai - welcome!
I created CoconutRoads.com in 1999 to fulfill my dream of writing about one of my favorite places in the world while sharing eco-friendly travel tips. Friends warned me that ecotourism wasn't popular (this was years before green was in), but I've always loved nature and had/have a special connection to and fondness for Hawaii (see my bio). So I persisted in between reporting jobs and homeschooling my youngest of three kids.
And here we are today - lots of growing to do, but ecotourism has arrived, the site is thriving and it is my sincere wish that it serves you well and that it serves the culture and nature of Hawaii just as well.
